Seemingly out of nowhere

I am forming this novel that I am using as a warm up for writing my The Sinking of Dalysium roughie. I, personally, do not like this large idea, although it is mostly because a)I have no idea what direction it will go in b)I HATE rough drafts, but they are unfortunately necessary part of the writing process c)It most likely will not make any sense. Will it ever make sense? I have no idea-I am only the person writing it(and poorly so far, I might add).

What is really bothering me is that I plan for it to be a dark Steampunk piece of Speculative Fiction and I very much dout it will turn into anything that I like. What can I say? I love coming up with ideas, but I hate how generic my writing sounds. No matter how hard I try, it always sounds like something that any goombah could dream up. I hate rough drafts.

My TSOD roughie is not impressing me either. I have completed the first page of the rough draft and it is already obvious that it is an environmentalist piece. I cannot wait to finish these rough drafts so I can turn them into something worth the trouble that goes into selling a story. And, by worth it, I mean in my opinion.
